Target’s Finance and Accounting organization is working to use data and analytics to improve business decision-making across its retail operations.
As a Data Analyst – Retail Accounting, the selected candidate will help convert retail and inventory activity into reliable financial information, operational insights and analysis that can support business decisions.
The role sits at the intersection of accounting, analytics and operations. The analyst will collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, Stores and Technology teams to identify risks, improve inventory reliability, understand business performance and support modernization initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of the Data Analyst include:
- Analyze retail and inventory activity to generate financial and operational insights.
- Translate complex data into clear and actionable business information.
- Work with Finance, Supply Chain, Stores and Technology teams.
- Identify business and operational risks through data analysis.
- Support efforts to improve inventory reliability.
- Analyze business performance and identify important trends.
- Perform data mining and data consolidation.
- Create and organize data required for analysis.
- Use descriptive statistics and basic inferential statistics to support conclusions.

Educational Qualification
Candidates should have a four-year degree or equivalent experience.
A quantitative academic background is preferred for the Data Analyst position.
Experience Required
Candidates should have:
- 1+ year of experience as a Data Analyst with strong academic performance in a quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working with data analysis and data mining.
